Olympic Torch overcomes snowy hill and arrives at Metsovo

The Olympic Torch departed Ioannina at 9:00 a.m. (GMT+2) to continue its third day’s journey in Greece to a hill town named Metsovo, 57 kilometers away.Passing through in the mostly mountainous areas of northern Greece, the route from Ioannina to Metsovo was covered by snow and heavy fog in the morning. With the help of local staff, the snow was cleaned out by snow-cleaning devices.

After a two-hour’s drive, the convoy vehicles arrived at the hill town at noon. At the welcome ceremony, locals, especially young children wearing traditional Greek costumes, gave dance performances at the heart of town.

According to the schedule, the Flame will depart for Grevena next.
