China presents wushu apparatuses to Malta

At the inaugural ceremony of the Malta Wushu Association (MWA) on December 24, 2007, Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Malta Chai Xi presented training apparatuses to the MWA on behalf of the Chinese Wushu Association.

Chai appreciated Malta’s efforts in promoting Chinese wushu and gave a brief account of Beijing’s preparatory work for the 2008 Olympic Games. He also expressed the hope to see the Malta wushu team in the “Wushu Tournament Beijing 2008″ which will be held during the Beijing Olympic Games in August 2008.

Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco, President of the Malta Olympic Committee, greeted the establishment of the Malta Wushu Association. Looking forward to the 2008 Olympic Games, he believed the Beijing Games would be crowned with success.

Wang Xiaolin, Secretary-General of the International Wushu Federation and President of the Chinese Wushu Association, visited Malta toward the end of 2006 to discuss with the Malta Olympic Committee the foundinging of the Malta Wushu Association .

The newly-formed MWA has already applied for joining the International Wushu Federation.
